GENERAL ITEMS. There was no work of any importance on the training tracks this morning. For the Two-year-old Stakes to bo run at Wanganui in March, 1*97, Captain Russell has three nominations, T. 11. Lowry two. G. Hunter two, W. Rathbone two, Hon. J. D. Ormond six, (I. P. Donnelly two, L. I). Nathan three. E. Cutts two, G. G. Stead two, and Messrs R. Connop, Bryant, M'Menamin, Stewart, Homes, Evans, Stevens. Fergus, Mercer, Moore, and Baker one nomination each. For the Wanganui Derby to be run in October, 1897. the same owners are represented bv a larger string of horses. In the latter event Mr F. Moeller, of Napier, has entered the br.f. by TorpedoChristina and the br.g. Waterfall, Bonnie Blink.

An Australian paper says it is probable that Wallace will ere long have the pleasure of meeting his dad in England. Mr W. R. Wilson is reported to feel strongly inclined to send Wallace Home so that he can measure strides with Britannia's best.
