A Brave Englishwoman.
Some orignal documents concerning Charlotte Atkyns— an Englishwoman who played a part in the First Revolution —have been unearthed by Pere Pelaporte, a Jesuit. According to the Paris correspondent of the Telegraph. Madame Atkyns was born at Kettringham Hall, Norfork, lived in Lille in the vear 1790, and was in constant communication with the Royalists in the North. Her devotion to the French Royal family was intense, and she long harbored the intention of rescuing Louis XVI., Marie Antoinette, and their children from the Temple. Having lost her husband in 1792, Madame Atkyns returned to England, where she kepi up a voluminous correspondence and relationship with distinguished French refugees. Madame Adkyns did not follow Peltier's advice, but left England for Paris and succeeded in seeing Marie Antoinette by bribing the gaolers.
