At the Police Court to-day, Arthur Mines, Robert Lloyd. Robert Ramsay. Frank Williams, William Drown, Thomas Enright, and -Tames Williams pleaded guilty to having travelled by the Waihora from Sydney to Auckland without paying their fart s. Accused were fined li2 ;">s, the amount of fare, with the option of fourteen day-. Wki.i.im;t<>\. 27th April. Mr R. E. Bannistf r, of the Evening Post, has been appointed agent for Messrs Williamson and Musgrove, in succession to the late Mr E. T. Gillon. RkKTOv. 27th April. At Cook's homestead. Blackwater, Grey Valley, a man named Martin Cruse shot himself, firing two shots into his body. The Ijody was found this inorninih but no further particulars are to hand. CiißisTcniT.fH, 27th April. Numerous burglaries have been reported lately. Hardy's store at Raknia was broken into on Saturday night, and about £6O in cash and a quantity of jewellery stolen. The premises of the Farmers* Co-operative Association, Christchurch, were entered on Sunday by thieves, but they were disturbed.
