A special meeting of the Committee of the Agricultural and Pastoral Society is to be held on Saturday next, when a final decision will probably be made as to whether a Show will be held this year. We had understood that the question had already been decided in the affirmative, but now it appears not; otherwise no further preliminary meetings would be required, and every effort would be made to have things definitely fixed. It does not redound to the credit of the district that in such a pastoral country a good Show cannot be organised. Like everything else, of course, its management would entail trouble, but that surely would not be found an insurmountable obstacle. There is, we understood, about £3O lying to the credit of the Society, and with such a nucleus there ought to be little room for failure. We do not think the Committee should have much hesitation in the matter. A Sosfety of the kind ought to find some better use for what little it has in hand than to hoard up the money for the benefit of a future generation.
