Rowing Club's Carnival.
[TO THE FDXTOa, |
Sin,—The programme of events for the Rowing Club’s carnival has been published, and seems to have given general satisfaction to ad concerned. lam sure that those who attend the show v/ill have no reason to complain of lack of variety, and the events are sure to be cluse and exciting; but one thing which I think should occupy a place on the programme h missing from the list, and that is a skating race. It may not be generally known that we have Mr J. Eaton, the champion skater of New Zealand, in our midst, and ho, I am sure, would willingly give an exhibition of fast skating. He won the championship of New Zealand in Auckland last year, doing the five miles in very fast time, perhaps the Secretary will try and arrange a race between him and the winner of the bicycle race. It is not often we see a fast skater, Jand I hope the Secretary will be able to place a skating event on the atn, etc , A Lover gf Skating
