A Strange Case.
ONE NATIVE CHARGES ANOTHER WITH CRUELTY TO ANIMALS.
It is an ext.raordinai’y thing for one Maori to lay an information for cruelty against another native, but there was such an occurrence the other day. Aj/ainst the accused it was alleged that he had poked the eyes out of a pin, and it was the owner of the animal who laid the information. Mr Day appeared for the latter. The case had been adjourned, but was called on again on Tuesday, when Mr Day explained that the case had been settled by tbe plaintiff paying £lO, which would clear all expenses, and amount to as much as the penalty of the Court would be.
Mr Booth : I don’t know; it is a very serious thing to sti k the eyes out of a pig. However, I am glad to see the case settled. The case was then struck out.
