Tits following business of interest to readers in this district was transacted at the last meeting of the Board From Gisborne, stating Miss Nellie Browne declined tlie sabolnrship granted to her.— Received. From same, asking (for renewal of scholarships to pupils.—No regulation to meat such oases.
From Gisborna High School governors, sending a grant of £75 tor the msinteaanoe of the High School,—Received. From Ormond asking that tho grant for out offices he Increased to £l6.—approved.
prom Napier, asking leave of abseuoe for Mi' Heslir,.—Tho secretary said three fourths of tho salary would he paid to Mr Faratn, So it would not cost them anything! —Extended leave of absence granted, subject to three-fourths of the salary going to Mr Faram.
From Waerenga-a.hika, recommending Miss McClure as pupil teacher.—Approved, salary to be £36 per annum. From Education Department, stating the grant for building purposes amounted for Jigwke's Bay to S2BSQ. From Mr Dodds, Gisborne, asking for travelling expenses of £2O for his son Marry Dodds, who had won a scholarship.—Not entitled to any allowance. The Board allocated the building gran! as follows :—New schools, Wimbledon (£200), Mohaka (£300), MaharahatS (£250), and Matamau (£250). In additions to schools £1420 was voted; Gisborne receives £1125, Ituffiefoa £153, Moanee £lOO, Napier £-515, Patutabi £215, i’ol' repairs to schools £703 was voted, repairH id toe toUl exceeding £Bsooi
