Sir Gavan Duffy contests Kilkenny North. The Parliamentary Committee of the Trades Congress support eight hours for miners only, as they fear that a Bill providing for eight hours generally would destroy Labor Unions. The English Catholics are dissenting, and the Presbyterian Press insists that Parnell shall retire from the lead of the : Irish. The New York branch of the Irish National Land League have decided that accounts be produced showing how the sum of .£2,000,000, remitted to Ireland from America since 1886, has been disposed of. The Archbishop of Canterbury has decided that Bishop Lincoln committed no illegal act in mixing water with the Sacramental wine in Holy Communion and rinsing the paten and chalice, and drinking ablutions, or by adopting the eastern position at ante-Communion office, but he condemned the action of the Bishop in standing in such a position during prayers of consecration as to hide the manual acts, and also of making the sign of the Cross over people when pronouncing the Benediction.
