Death of Mrs Booth.
A message received from London announces the death of Mrs Booth, wile of General Booth, the great organiser of the Salvation Army. It has been said of tbe Army that, after admitting all objections, tha fact remains “ that one man and hie wife, starting without friends, without funds, without any visible means of influencing the world, beyond a canvas tent and intense convictions, have created before the eyes ot tbe materialistic sceptical, and luxurious generation, all the phenomena we have been accustomed to read about in tha Acts of those Apostles who have founded new religions." That woman has now passed away, and there surely are none who can regrat it. The latter portion of her life was a time of the most intense suffering, from a dreadful disease, but the trjgl was borne with a patience and meekness that proved tba good lady’s mind to ba at ease. It there ever was a human mortal prepared for the great hereafter Mrs Booth was, and it seems to us that her relief from such terrible pain is rather a cause for pure joy than for sadness. Her life has been an example which may well be held in reverence by all Christendom, and .whatever may ba the reward beyond the grave she is surely certain of victory. A memorial service will be conducted at 7 o’clock on Sunday evening, by Captaid Garbutt, at the meeting house of the Gisborne branch gt tbe Army,
