The Tasmanian Exhibition has been postponed till October next year, owing to the strike.
Schmidt, convicted of murdering an old man named Taylor, was sentenced to death. Only half of the mines at the Peak Hill new rush have been bottomed, and a large number of the miners who proceeded there when the rush first set in are returning to the city, discouraged. The accumulated system at the Sandhurst and Eaglehawk electric tramway has been pronounced a failure, and an overhead system will be tried.
