Police Court.
Alfred James Thomas was brought up again yesterday, charged with stealing a piece of firewood valued at slxpeooe, tha property of J. M. Arundel, and was sentenced to 14 days' hard labor. Constable Hansen, who bad been on the watch, had caught the defendant in Derby Street, conveying a pieos of firewood for the possession nt which he was Unable tosatislaotorily account. The defendant made some resistance. L. Humphries, night watchman, gave evidence, -land J. M. Arundel deposed that he had beard noises that morn, ing, but be could not say that ho missed any ot his wood, although he had wood ot tbe same elate as'that produced.
