A SERIOUS AFFRAY.

A CONFLICT BETWEEN WHITES AND NEGROES. New Yobe, Dec. 17. Information has been received of a serious conflict between the whites and negroes at Wahalak, a small town in Mississippi. The dispute arose over ah attempted rescue of a negro who had been arrested, and in the •'raggle 12 whites and 100 negroes were wounded. The whites succeeded in driving their opponents into a swamp, but further tidMCg is expected to take place. Dec. 20. appears that the conflict between the whites and negroes at Wahalak has been much exaggerated. The disturbance was not bo gerious as at first represented.
