London, Dec. 15. A big gun exploded aboard a French iron clad, and six of the crew were killed. The Agents-General express a hope that the Imperial Government will legislate next session in the direction of permitting trustees to invest in colonial stock.
Several thousand copies of Zola’s novels, exhibited in book stalls in Dublin, have been seized by the police. The Bi-metallism Conference has unanimously adopted a resolution urging the Imperial Government to introduce a bimetallic system of British coinage. Mr Henniker Heaton intends to deliver lectures in America, advocating penny postage. He is also in communication with the Government on the question. The Financial News publishes a startling article on the Bank of New Zealand, which has created a sensation in the city. Belgrade, Dec. 15. The result of the recent elections is regarded as a direct snub to King Milan, inasmuch as only forty Royalists obtained seats while five hundred Radicals were returned. Beblin, Dec. 15. Professor Geflken, who is concerned in the publication of the late Emperor’s diary, will be tried next month. The Court refused him bail.
