0 SilltiMl/ M IMPORTANT TO FARMERS. TO ARRIVE EX “ALBERT RUSSELL.” FROM NEW YORK, VIA WEL LINGTON—--4 0“ NEW CHAMPION MOWERS and X Atal REAPERS,” with and without Tilters. THE NEW CHAMPION MOWER Isa Machine for cutting grass, that possesses peculiar points >f excellence notfound on other mowing machines. The complicated mass of gear wheels that is found upon other gra.su cutters is conspicuous by its absence in this implement. The power to drive the cutting knife is derived from a pair of parallel toothed wheels that meet face to face, engaging fully one-third of the teeth at one time. By this mode of obtaining power the greatest speed is obtained without injury to the wheels or bearings, besides the pressure is so evenly divided that the wear upon these gear wheels is imperceptible. FULLY ONE-THIBD MORE POWER Is derived by this new movement than is obtained from the old style of bevel gear and spur pinon, besides the motion is directly transmitted to the knife, while fully onethird of the power on the old-fashioned mowing machines is lost by friction while passing through the various gears, pinons, spur wheels, bevel gears, etc., before it reaches the cutters. SPECIAL POINTS OF EXCELLENCE Simplicity in construction. New mechanical gearing. Elevation of cutters while in motion. Patent foot lever to control finger bar. Direct hitch rod to lessen the draft. Independent gear wheels to cut right or left. Easy manner to dissect machine. Tilt lever for raising or lowering cut. Reliable pitman connection to knife heel The most convenient machine for handling. Strang and positive catting power, without choking. Very light draft and well constructed. This mower is the recognised leader of grass implements. No expense has been spared in its construction to make it the strongest machine for the purpose required in the field. It is sold upon its merits. They have been so extensively used throughout New England that further comment is unnecessary. Orders now being booked; delivery made in November. The Manufacturers of—- “ THE NEW CHAMPION' have introduced a— NEW PRINCIPLE IN MECHANICS. The Gearing of a Mowing Machine reduced to Two Cog Wheels, and only One of them Revolves.
