COLONIAL GOVERNORS.
DIFFICULTY WITH QUEENSLAND UNSETTLED. A CAUSE OF DISCUSSION. SIR H. A. BLAKE’S APPOINTMENT TO MAURITIUS PROBABLE. London, Nov 20. In the House of Commons Mr W. H. Smith said the Queensland Government might rest assured that the Imperial Government would act in all good faith with a desire to secure a satisfactory solution of the difficulty. Baron de Worms, replying to a question in the House of Commons, denied that the settlement of the Queensland dispute was suspended in the absence of Lord Knutsford and Sir R. Herbert, Permanent Under-Secre-tary of the Colonial Office. The Standard states it is probable that Sir H. A. Blake will be appointed Governor of Mauritius.
