Hospital Sports.

We filly anticipated that the entries for the forth com ng Hospital Sports would be very good this year, but we are ag surprised to find them much more numerous hm perhaps anyone had expecte*. The entries are believed to be the largest ever received for any sports held in this district, and with the prospect of such excellent fields the sports should be a great success this year. This proves what a great deal i.< to be gained by confidence and good management. There were some who viewed the proposal to hold the annual sports as usua as a project of a very doubtful nature considering the times, and also the trouble that had arisen in the previous year in reference to the h liday, but a little energy soon dis pelled these doubts and all that is wanted now is a fine day, and previously the Hospital Committee have not been disappointed in this respect The handicappers will have an unenviable task in allotting fair distances to so many competit rs, but on that score past experience assures us there will be no reason for dissatisfaction. Each competitor, of course, would like to get let in more easily than he is likely to be, but the handicappers’ duty is to try and secure close finishes. The following entries were received on Saturday night: — MAIDEN. J. Gordon 11. White ~M. G. Gren ide W Nirint J. W. Fairlie D. P. Cameron F. E. Loomb E. Single ROY’S UNDER. 16. C. Haydon J. White W.
