TRAINING NOTES.
Chbistchubch, last night. There was a very moderate morning's work at Biccarton to-day. St Clair cantered three miles,! and afterwards walked lamely, the result of a split heel. British Lion and covered a mile and a quarter at three quarter speed, both going well. Silvermark ran right away from Vandal in a capital gallop over a mile and half. Chain Shot went a mile and a quarter at a good striding pace, Son of a Gun travelling two or three furlongc further at the same rate. Cuirassier and Leopold severed two miles and a half steadily i and Buby galloped the cup distance at nearly I top speed. Phormium Tenax was absent, I having knocked himself about jumping rails I yesterday morning. Escutcheon and Engage-1 ment were restricted to walking exercise. I Manton galloped a mile and a quarter at nearly I top speed. Dnnkell and Helmsman were I much better than Blizzard in a spin of four I furlong*. There is little or no betting on the Cup. I Chain Shot, Lochiel, Manton, Exchange, and Silvermark are most in demand in the order named, 7 to 1 being the best price offered about either of the first two.
