Whataupoko Road Board.
A meeting of the above body was held on Tuesdaj ■, all the members beinoj present. The Clerk reported that Mr DeLantour’s opinion was that the streets in North Gisborne ware fully reserved to the public.—A committee, consisting of the Chairman, Messrs Sorter and Joyce, was appointed to enquire into the question and report at next meetins. It wa i resolved that the Clerk prepare a scheduli i of works upon which to expend the rates co. lectable on native lands. Mr Cl ay ton’s motion to enquire into the conduct of the poundkeeper was agreed to, and he made the following complaints s—--I—He allows cattle belonging to some persons to wn.ndw n-Rrltotto impounding them, notably ajeow belonging to Mrs Heeney, and ten bullocks beloning to Kane; 2—He does not enter the particulars of all cattle impounded. One cow had been impounded twice, and no entry had ever been made of the impounding, The members thought that the charges were fully proved, but not of sufficient weight to justify the poundkeeper’s dismissal. The poundkeeper was then called in, and his attention called to the several clauses in the Impounding Act and directed to keep the book correctly, and not to favor any person; also to see that each person receiving cattle from tho pound signed for them. Accounts totalling £9 12s were passed for payment; Mr Slack was granted leave to Orest a fence across a by-road.
