Death, under Terrible Circumstances.
Melbourne, October 16. A sad case of burning to death has occured at Mooroopna, in this colony. About two o clock on Sunday morning a Are wjs discovered at Doidge’s Hotel, Undera. The flames were discovered in one of the outbuildings, and it was thought that they could be got under, but the sparks soon communicated the fire with the main building, and the hotel was a mass of ashes in a comparativelev short time. Mrs Doidge, the wife of the proprietor, who was an invalid at the time, was awakened and brought out of he flaming building, but it s emed she realised the fact that abou r £lOO i money was in the house she rushed into the flames, and succeeded in rescuing some £BO and went back, though every effort w s made to prevent het , for the remaind- r. She succeeded in getiing this, but whi e s e was in the building the piano had been dragged into the passage-way in an endeavor to save it by some men who were lending as istance; this obstructed Mis Doidge’s exit, and before she o u>d be rescued, she was burnt to d ath, only the ashe of her body being discovered.
