The Harbor Works.

|TO THE BDITOB.I Sib,—l am a new chum, and hava been inspecting your breakwater for the last nine months. 1 know nothing of your Engineer he may be a Thomson, a Dickson, a Gannon, or some other luminary,—buj I can say there has been a master mind at work in every detail of the construction of your breakwater. I have looked upon the building of all ths concrete breakwaters in New Zealand, and have lent a hand to build some of them, and I can say without fear of omitradiotiou that the oonorets work of the Gi-burne breakwater is second to none in New Zealand. Tii« buildings are well planned for cunvemence; ths concrete mixers are not surpassed in any of the colonies ; the blockyard crane is well adapted for its work, while the setting crane has no equal in New Zealand ; the stone used ia of a good quality for concrete work. Now, sir, the men who have planned and carried out the work so far in such a practical nm,,... oanable of carrying it out to a by contract, it was ~ie ~j hp wor g gave way in ihe Christchurch cathedral smre I That done by day woikdid not yield. My advice is, go on with your breakwater, and stop all this bickering. It will take a lot u f platform spouting to get me blook of oonorets ready and place it in its correct w»rtjp n ._ i &Qli ekhg £>. Fewwsor,
