THE WHITECHAPEL HORRORS. No writer of fiction has perhaps ever given such a thriljlng tale as that which is conveyed to us through the cable, from London. There appears to be such a horrible reality about the whole affair, and the atrocities are so brutally committed, that it is impossible to conceive how the perpetrator could esc -pe early detection. It must have taken the murderer some time to complete the foul deed in each instance, no matter how scientifically they may have been committed. It should, indeed, be all the easier to sift the mystery if, as believed, i- is done for anatomical purposes. The idea that the crimes could have been perpetrated for the purpose of being used as an advertisement for a medical work seems a most ridiculous Itory, but in the infuriated state of mind to which the London people have been Isshed by the affair, nothing would be too terrible to conceive as the truth. It is more probable that some smart Yankees have seized on the Idea of making these horrible murders the medium of a grand advcrtisemciit, for feelings of delicacy are considered of secondary Importance to a pushing Yankee when he secs an opportunity of extending hie business. At present (hero is nothing for it but to wait the course qf events. The perpetrator or perpetrators of such forrible crimes can surely not remain undented for auj- length nf time.
