At St Andrew’s Literary Society on Tuesday evening a paper on “ Colonial Life ” was read by Mr Scott, a resume of which appears elsewhere. The session for 1888 ends on Tues- . -Aday next, when a concert will be given by the members, the proceeds of which are to be devoted to the building fund. A really good programme has been arranged. The barque Deva, for the safety of which fears were expressed, arrived in Auckland on Tuesday, 140 days out from London.
