Hospital Supplies.

The adjourned meeting of the Hospital Trustees was held last night; present, Messrs Lucas (in the chair) Watson, Nolan, and E K Brown. The following tenders were received : —Groceries, W Adair (accepted) £1 14s 3Jd; J East £1 18s 9d; Pitt and Maguire £1 17s 6}cl; Teat and Friar £1 15s 4Jd. To arrive at the above figures it was agreed to take twenty-six of the principal items required. Meat &c, W L File 3d lb; J Clark 2Jd; Hatton and Score, 2|d J Maynard 2Jd. Owing to three of the tenders being alike a ballot was taken, when Mr Clark’s tender was accepted. Bread, W Adair 3Jd; Teat and Friar 2Jd (accepted), Firewood H E Johnston £1 2s 6d per cord; Teat and Friar £1 Is (accepted). Mr Johnston tendered for the supply of Newcastle coal at £2 6s fid per ton but the Trustees considered the price too high and rejected the tender.
