SUPREME COURT SITTINGS.
NAPIER CRIMINAL CASES. Napier, last night. At the criminal sittings of the Supreme Court, which opened here to-day. before Chief Justice Prendergast, Prank Christy and Thos Warn got five years and thirteen months respectively, for housebreaking. Christy is an old offender. A youth named Walked got two years for horse stealing, and Alfred Bruce, another young man who was charged with housebreaking and on two charges forgery, got two years for each offence, — eeotences to run concurrently. An individual named George Dremmey, with two aliatee, who seems to be suffering from aberration of intellect, was charged with horse stealing, but his trial was postponed till to-morrow, as also was that of a Native named Paora Matawhira, who was charged with committing perjury when giving evidence on oath at a sitting of the Native Land Court at Wairoa, before Judges Bcanlan and Wallace. Timothy Condon was placed in the dock to answer a charge af fraudulent bankruptcy, and the jury, after being absent two hours, stated they were unable to agree. His Honor said that such being the case they would be locked up all night.
