[from our own correspondent. ] Wellington, last night. It is now thought the Public Works Statement will be delivered on Thursday, and that the debate on the ’Frisco mail service will be taken on Friday. The Auckland members believe that the majority will vote for the renewal of the contract. The Government have received a cable message to the effect that the Midland Railway contract has been signed and sealed by the Company, the Directors having accepted the last proposal of the Government.
