There are times when it seems almost imEoeeible to wish a friend further success, when y that success it means that he must be removed from among us, and this is especially so in the case of one who is about to be promoted to another district We allude to the case of Sergeant Stagpoole, who is shortly to be removed from Tologa Bay to Kaiapoi. It is seldom that any public officer has made himself so well liked, while at the same time never failing to conscientiously fulfil his dutiesindeed it is mainly in the discharge of his duties that jje has been enabled to distinguish himself, as can be instanced by his gallant conduct in connection with the sad drowning accident which is still fresh in our minds. But to refer to that further would only be to awaken painful memories of the past. We are sure the Gisborne people will wish Sergeant and Mrs Stagpoole continued prosperity in their dew homes.
