THE GISBORNE STANDARD. answer to egg puzzle.
Name.............. Assumed name........ We thought of leaving the decision to three competent Gisborne judges, but as it appears impossible to get an agreement on the subject, and arithmeticians seem as much bewildered as those who know less about figures—some of the latter make positive assertions without the least trace of bewilderment—it has been considered s- fer to abide by the decision of our Wellington contemporary. The question is—lf a hen and a half lay an egg and a half in a day and a half, how many eggs will six hens lay in seven days ? The numerous answers already received will not be divulged, but they will not be entered in the competition unless they are repeated. Each answer will be timed as it is handed in at the office, and in the event of more than one being correct, tbe first answer received will be given the preference.
