COLONIAL LOANS.
THE QUEENSLAND LOAN FLOATED. FINANCIAL NEWS' ARTICLE. OPPOSITION TO TASMANIAN LOAN. London, July 6. The total amount subscribed for the Queensland loan of a million and a half was £6,152.000. The minimum was fixed at 94, and tenderers at £94 10s 6d will receive 47 per cent, of their applications. The Financial News, in an article on the result of the floating of the Queensland loan, says the colony ought not to have been allowed to borrow at three and a half per cent., and investors would probably burn thejr flngeps. The Tasmanian Railway Company is opposing the proposed new Government loau being quoted ou the Stock Exchange.
