Rs Stewart’s Bankruptcy

[to the editor' Sir, —Mr Stewart is right when he states that he employed me as his solicitor to file his petition, etc., io bankruptcy; but he is wrong when he states that he personally prepared the statement of his assets and liabilities. The list and statement were prepared in my office, and by myself, but Stewart at his own request did some of the writing. Had I engaged a clerk to do the work, 10s would have more than amply repaid him, Stewart’s offer was made to me in a friendly way, and so accepted. At the time of Stewart’s bankruptcy I had been acting as his solicitor for some twelve months and had done considerable work for him, for which he was then indebted to me in the sum of £36 ss, and I am now a creditor in the estate for that sum.—l am, <to., Malcolm Macdonald.
