The Hospital Trustees.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the Hospital Trustees was held last night. Present: Messrs Watson, Dunlop, Brown, Lucas, Coleman, Nolan, and Tucker. tbsascsbb's BEPOBT. The Treasurer (Mr E. K. Brown) reported as follows:— “ Since last meeting I have received the County Council contribution, £76; subsidy from Government on Borough ditto, £24; fees from patients, £7 15s ; subscriptions, £22 Is. All the accounts that have been passed are paid, and the surgeon’s salary to June 30. The amount now in the Bank is £57 8s 7d; and I have claimed a subsidy of £56 9s ou subscriptions to June 20. The Government auditor has been here, aud passed the balance sheet to March 31. I would suggest that the balance sheet be published on its return from the Auditor-General. The report was adopted. medical orricHn's report. The following report from Dr Pollen was read and adopted “ Sixteen patients have been under treatment daring the month, six discharged, three died, and seven remain to date. Two of the deaths were due to chronic disease in elderly men, and the third to an acute attack of typhoid fever. With reference to the latter cake, I think it my duty to mention the admirable conduct of Miss Swain under exceptionally trying circumstances. When the patient was suddenly seised with an attack of frantic delirium, of a suicidal nature, Miss Swain, singlehanded, succeeded in holding and restraining him for fully ten minutes until assistance was procured. The. fever wards ought to be connected with the kitchen by bells to provide against accidents. of this nature in future. Everything is going on satisfactorily at the institution.
