THE IRISH QUESTION.
ARBEST OF TWO M.P.b. SULLIVAN GETS TWO MONTHS. London, December 4. On a rehearing of the charge against Sullivan, ex-Mayor of Dublin, he was sentenced to two months’ imprisonment, Timothy and Edward Harrington M.P's, have been arrested for publishing reports of the meetings of the League. Mr Sexton, M.P. has been elected Lord Mayor of Dublin.
LATER, STRANGE SPEECH BY GLADSTONE. radicals7rritated. Lord Hartington, speaking at Rosendale, objected to the one man one vote principle, and said the Unionists would only re-form with the Liberal party when the latter abandoned its Home Rule policy. Mr Gladstone has astounded his followers by urging in favour of the Whig treatment of Ireland., He pointed out that the present rupture in the Liberal party is calculated to limit the breadth of their polioy. The members of the Gladstone party construe these overtures to mean a re union, and the Radical section are consequently angry.
