"Puff" on the Libel Case.
I see O'Donnell's going on with his libel action against the Times for the articles on •'Parnellism and Crime?" Oh, he's bound to go through with it I He'd look a fine figure of fun if he were to back out now ! That would be al! the same as admitting that the articles are true, which would be awkwasd! Parnell and O’Connor are summoned as witnesses! There’ll be a nice exposl, I bet! There’ll be some thundering hard swearing ! There’s a safer thing to bet on! I don’t know about that ! What are the damages laid at ? £lO,OOO ! But the amount does'nt signify ! Ihe Times will take all sorts of care not to loose its case if it can help it! And if there’s any hard swearing, it’ll keep a weather eye open for perjury!
Yea, that’s true! The Times will have the very best legal talent to be got for money, and it won’t go into the thrng with kid gloves on '
Bather not! What the 'J imes wants is to bring Parnell and Co to utter grief once for all, and you may be sure it won't give ’em any points !
