A peculiar case was heard in a court in Melbourne recently. It was an application by'Evan Evans and Clara Evans (his wife) to obtain the custody of a child, which the female applicant alleged that she left with respondents, Mr and Mis Kelk, in 1884. Her story was that, in that year, she left her child with respondents, ana contributed to its support. Subsequently she was taken ill, aud upon her recovery about a month or six weeks later she called at Mrs Kela’s bouse and was informed that the child was Since then she had heard the child was alive, and she desired to have it restored her. His Honor ordered the child to be restored to its natural guardian.
