A horrible tragedy has taken plaee in Carlton (Melbourne), Catherine Sanders, a woman of forty, having been murdered by her husband. I'he first blow must have rendered her helpless, if not insensible, bui the enraged husband proceeded to batter her head with the bar in. a terrible manner. Having left his victim in a lying state, he went t> a neigh* bouring hole! and left his business address, stating that he would be found there if . anybody wanted him. Ha then went to work in the ordinary wiry and when arrested by the police con* fessed what be had done. At th* inquest, which resulted in his comof wilful murder, te -poke in an incoherent fashion, but otherwise seemed perfectly sane.
