I'he first blow must have rendered her helpless, if not insensible, bui the enraged husband proceeded to batter her head with the bar in. a terrible manner. Having left his victim in a lying state, he went t> a neigh* bouring hole! and left his business address, stating that he would be found there if . anybody wanted him. Ha then went to work in the ordinary wiry and when arrested by the police con* fessed what be had done. At th* inquest, which resulted in his comof wilful murder, te -poke in an incoherent fashion, but otherwise seemed perfectly sane.
