Tub Council met on Thursday afternoon. Present i Crs Gray (in the chair), Chambers, King, Stubbs, Gan. non, and Wallace.

WAIKOHU BOAD: TOLOCIA FXBBT, A. Bond, Ormond, wrote calling at» tention to the bad state of the Waikohu road. The Engineer said he had been along the road recently and found it generally in good repair. There had been some mounds raised to divert the water into the drain, and perhaps these were referred to. He would attend to the matter. Mr E. Kirk, Tologa, wrote saying that the ferry rope was unsafe, and drawing attention to the ferry approaches. After hearing the Engineer, it wai decided to purchase a new rope, but, as the conditions laid down that the approaches were to be kept in repair by the ferryman, it was decided to refer Mr Kirk to the bond.

TUBANGANVI BOAD BOARD. The Turangauui Road Board wrote raising objections to the resolution passed abolishing the Board. Or Gannon said the question could not be re-opened. The meeting had only to confirm the special order. . The letter was acknowledged. A BEQUEST : COUNT! DOG BRGIBTRAB. Mr Dover, Dog Registrar, wrote asking for consideration on account of his having been fined for trespass in trying to do his duty. In connection with this matter Mr Macdonald, solicitor, wrote suggesting amendments to the Act whereby Registrars should be further protected. The Chairman proposed, and Cr Gatmon seconded, that the fine be paid by the Council.—Carried. It was decided to write to Mr Graham, M.H.R., asking him to advocate the granting to Dog Registrars greater powers of search. WHATAUPOKO BOAD. Mr P. Barker, Whataupoko, wrote drawing attention to the bad state of the road between his property and town. Discussion on the letter waa adjourned until next meeting. SPECIAL OBDEBS I A WARNING. The special order to abolish the Turanganui Road District was confirmed. As to confirming the special order with regard to abolishing the Waimata Hiding, constituting new districts, and altering the representation, Cr Cham, bers thought that the whole thing waa illegal, and should be looked into. It would be better to start again than to confirm nn illegal act. At a previous meeting it had been decided not to alter the representation, and no notice had been given to members that there was any proposed change, and the resolution not to make any alteration stood good. When the motion wae brought on to alter the representation the Chairman ought to have ruled it waa ultra Dirts. The Chairman said the Act of 1880 allowed the motion to be brought on at any time. He then went on to show in what position the minuteo affected the question, and thought sufficient notice had been given members. Cr Gannon said they could not go outside the resolution passed altering the districts and representation. ° The special order was confirmed on the casting vote of the Chairman-
