Eviction Up North.
Auckland, last night.
Great excitement has been occasioned at Papakura over a quarrel which has taken place between one White and a man named Hallowell. The former occupied a farm belonging to the latter, and during the past month the relations between the parties have been of a friendly character. On September 21 Hallewell and another settler proceeded to the farm and attempted to take possession. This was resolutely objected to by White who eventually was seized, bound, and allowed to remain on the ground in the rain for several hours.
He was then released, but suffered greatly from exposure.
Warrants have now been issued against the offenders.
