The Parcels Post.

The following is a digest of the provisions of the new parcels post, which will come into operation on the Ist October next:—Parcels must be prepaid—and handed over the Post-office counter. Those for places served by railway, coach or steamer must no exceed lllbs in weight or measure more than six feet (length and girth combined). The rate of postage is 7d not exceeding one pound weight, and an additional 3d for every pound or fraction of a pound. For places not reached by railway, coach, or steamer the the maximum weight is five pounds, and parcels must not exceed two feet in length er one foot in breadth or depth Parcels containing anything explosive or liable to sudden combustion, grossly offensive, filthy matter, live animals, or any substancs likely to cause injury to other parcels or officers of the Post Office, or any letter, or money, or a packet, or a parcel, intended for delivery at an address other than that on the parcel itself, are prohibited. Parcels containing liquids, flsh, meat, game, or sharp instruments such as razors, scissors, &c., will not be accepted unless so packed as to prevent all risk and injury to other parcels and the officials of the department. Parcels addressed " To be called for” will be charged demurrage after seven days, at tho rate of ald a day. Parcels may be registered under the same conditions as letters and for an extra 2d a receipt will be obtained eu delivery aud pouted to thq sender.
