A New Line of Steamers to New Zealar d.—Messrs Turnbull, Martin and Co., have established a new line of steamers between London and New Zealand, called the “ Shire ” line, consisting of the “ Elginshire,” “ Bossshire,” “ Fifeshire,” and “Elderslie. ’ They will call at Timaru, Oamaru, and Port Chalmers, proceeding direct to London. A young man at Southampton went home late one night, and because the door was locked, when he got in he seized a revolver and shot two of his sisteis and then committed suicide.
Another claim—this time for £6OOO damages—has been preferred against the Wellington Corporation, for loss of foreshore frontage. In alluding to the writ the Mayor said he was getting quite used to this sort of thing.
