An interesting relic of the ill-fated ketch Recamia, which was lost near Kaipara Heads on the 24th of August with all hands, was picked up at the Heads by Mr Alexander Gouk, and he ha* forwarded it to us. The relic is a rough piece of board, the end of a 12-inch board, about nine inches in length and half-an-inch thick, but this contain* a pencil writing, evidently written by Captain Holst just before the vessel* sunk, and being bis last desparing effort to make known the fate of the vessel and crew. The words, which are in large characters, and written with ordinary lead pencil, are scattered over the board, manifesting unsteadiness. They are; — “ Off Heads. On our beam ends. H. Holst, Necamia. ” 1 here is no date nor any other indication of the position of the vessel, Mr Gouk also discovered near the same place a lifebuoy belonging to the Becamia, and an ash car, which in all probability belonged to the same illfated vessel, and a bottle which had been thrown overboard from the steamer Macgregor when she was drifting along the West Coast northward* after having lost her propeller and steering gear.— Exchange.
