BISHOP'S ESTATE BEFORE COURT. A ’FBISCO BILL OF COSTS. WORSE THAN GIBBOBNE. Auckland, 10.30 p.m. The matter of obtaining probate in the estate of George Wesley Bishop, recently shot by Mrs Von, in San Francisco, Mme before Mr Justice Ward in chambers this afternoon. The following account of the funeral ex, penses was handed to Judge Ward tor perusal:—McAvoy and Gallagher, undertakers, expenses of himself and J. Buri, metallic name on plate (engraved) and casket handles, 260 dollars; one suit of underclothing, 3 dollars 50 cents; one gent’s black robe, 90 dollars -, cash paid for embalming the body 150 dollars ; telegram to Mr Greenaway, N.Z. 45 dollars 80 cents; use ot waggon to carry body to vault, six dollars. Total 429 dollars 80 cents. His Honor after perusing the account, remarked in great surprise; “ Gracious, if a dead man costs so much to bury in Sau Francisco, it must be very ex. pensive to live there. These costs are something awful.”

Mr Napier : Your Honor, they concluded they had got hold of a millionaire. His Honor recommended Mr Napier, in the interest of the public to have the letter and bill of costs published, and ho added grimly, it anyone wants to go to 'Frisco, that bill ought to act as a deterrent. It waa then arranged that probate ot will should be obtained by action, The trial was fixed to take place in October next.
