Action against the New Zealand Shipping Company.

Dunbdin, last night. Judgment was given in the R.M. Court to-day in a case in which the New Zealand Woodware Company sought* to recover £7l from the New Zealand Shipping Company for damage to cargo by sea water. The case depended on whether the damage occurred through some exceptional circumstances not contained iu the bill of lading. It was contended that the damage must have been caused through defects in the pumping machinery, or through leakage from rivets started. Mr Carew gave judgment for the defendant with costs, holding that the plaintiff had not proved the damage was outside the exceptions in the bill of lading.
