The Premier at Wellington.

ENTHUSIASTICALLY RECEIVED,

Wbllinoton, last night,

The Premier addressed a crowded meeting here last night. He was Very Well received ana made an excellent speech, full of telling bits at the Opposition. He spoke very warmly in favour of the maintenance of the present Education system, the village .settlements scheme, and defended the Ministry from the charges ot extravagance brought against them. His reference to the village settlements scheme and its cure of evils, which in Scotland had resulted in the cruel treatment of the Crofters by the big land holders, provoked great applause, especially as his statements were corroborated by an excrofter who was present. At the close of the speech a unanimous vote of thanks was passed for the address.
