ATTEMPTED ELOPEMENT. Mzcbovbnb, July 22. The attempt at elopement from Sandhurst by a married musician with a wealthy young lady has been nipped in the bad. The ranaWays were overtaken by the girl’s irate brother, and he so worked on his sister’s feel, ings that she decided to return home. The brother was only just in time, as the run. sways were on board the Zealandis, and on the point of starting for America. The whole party returned to Sandhurst in the same train. The gay Lothario, who was not on speaking terms with his own wife before be departed from Sandhurst, left instructions behind him that his furniture should be sold. The auction was to have taken place yesterday. The wife, however, managed to effect an entrance into the house, and, by the assistance of relations, barricaded the house so effectually that, despite the escort of nine guardians of the peace, the auctioneer could not gain entrance. The large party of spectators which intended to be present at the eale was amused at the auctioneer's discomfiture. A SENSATIONAL ARREST. meuboubnb, July 22. A sensational arrest was made yesterday afttrnoon. Walter Wm. Neale, thought to be an absconding solicitor from Coventry, England, was apprehended in the Oriental Hotel, Collins-street, where he had engaged under the name of Wm. Neville. He arrived in Adelaide by the steamship Sydney on Thursday, and travelled overland to Melbourne. Fraud, forgeries, and embezzlements to the tune of £30,000 in the aggregate are charged against him. He acknowledged that he is the man wanted ; £165 was found on him. He was bound for Queensland when arrested.
