AQUATICS. GAUDAUB AND BEACH. London, Juns M. Mr St. John, backer of Gaudaur, offers to guarantee Beach 5000 dollars if he wiU consent to row Gaudaur in America for £lOOO a side. Gaudaur is willing to visit Australia if Beach will guarantee him a race. NAPIER PARK STEEPLECHASE. The following horses have accepted for th* Napier Park Steeplechase :—Bolls, Denbigh, Orient, Owohaoko, Peter Osbeck, Silvio. Victor, Mangahone, Erebus, Romeo and Rimu. HAWKES BAY GUN CLUB. Says the Napier Telegraph of the meeting of the above club held on Friday last. "In the first match, which was a handicap sweep, stake, three birds each, one miss out, there were eleven entries. The shooting was not good, but the birds were so fast in the first round that five shooters missed their birds and scored a “ ducks-egg.” The second round reduced the number of the shooters to two-more, finally—Messrs D. O. Tinner, Beamish, and Hamlin, shootiSg off, the scoring being 6,5, and4resp:et:v .-'y, and the shooting was much better. There were the same entries as i tha first match, but Messrs C. O. Tann :, 'Csr’.nish, Birch, De Pelichet, Mackcm. . E. D. Tanner eoch killed their six' b.... out of seven. In shooting off the tics Messrs C. 0. Tanner and Beamish, after dispatching six birds each, agreed to divide the stakes. The third match was an open one, the shooting being much the same as in the previous one. The fourth and last match was the event of the day, shooters to the number of fourteen nominating. After a keen and well contested match, Mr A. C. Lang was declared the winner, both he and Captain Birch shooting in grand style to the last. Before concluding, I must compliment Mr W. Stock on his admirable arrangements by which he has made his grounds the most complete for pigeon matches in the province, and also for the admirable supply of birds.
