Waerenga-a-hika Concert and Dance.

A Most successful concert was held at Wae-tenga-a hika School-house on Thursday evening by the residents, assisted by vkitotS from Gisborne. Mr Scents opened the programme with “ Nora Moreen.” Madame Stewart then sang “ Sweet Love Arise ” most successfully, and had to respond to a most emphatic encore, giving “ Tho Bells of Aberdove.” Mr Nock (who is evidently a great favorite at Waerenga-a-hika) sang “ Bova of the Blue.” Mr J. R. Scott made a decided wit with hie song “ It’s all over now with the Ladies” and “ Brother Bill.” This gentleman should be heard oftener at our local concerts. Mr Hardy was successful with “ White Squall.” In the second part, Mr Woodward’s recitation “ Shamus O’Brien ” was much appreciated, as also was a duet by Madame Stewart and Mr Sceats, Mr Scott again “ brought down the house ” with “ Auld Lang Syne ” and “ Good Evening.” Mr Sceats and Mr Harper were also successful with their respective songs. After the concert the visitors were asked to supper in the residence adjoining, and after" the room had been cleared dancing began, and was kept up till an early hour.
