For some time past his friends had noticed thal ho was in a very despondent mood, Pecuniary speculation in which deceased had enoaged had not turned out well, and his wife had also been ill for some time past. After the fatal shot was fired only 40 minutes elapsed before death took place. Doctors were summoned, but nothing could be done and the unfortunate man expired without recognising those members of his family who had been hastily sent for. The deceased leaves a widow and three children. The news of the sad event has created a profound sensation in Auckland where the deceased was well known, and highly respected.
