Retail firms need junior ' and senior male shop assistants. Builders require qualified carpenters and a plasterer. A junior male clerk for a merchant’s office, an apprentice moulder, a boilermarker’s apprentice, two turners, a journeyman moulder and two labourers for an engineering firm, a junior storeman for a produce firm. General vacancies include:—A power station operator, a married couple for a mixed farm in South Westland, bushmen and skilled sawmill hands for mills throughout the district. -k In the female section vacancies offering include: — Junior and senior shop assistants—also Christmas casuals, junior and senior female clerks and shorthand-typists, hotel employment for cooks, generals, housemaidwaitresses and housemaids; for several domestic workers and laundry hands. Public hospitals require probationer nurses and wardsmaids, probationer nurses and two third cooks are wanted fob the mental hospital, Hokitika.
