Tex Morton Show Received With Enthusiasm At Invercargill
Entertainment of a variety which drew enthusiastic approval from , a large audience was presented at the Civic Theatre last week by Tex Morton and Sister Dorrie, in, conjunction with the hypnotist, Van Loewe, says the Southland News. The two appear in Greymouth next Tuesday, Nov 15 at the Regent Theatre. The Southland News says:-—“The saga of the West and the Australian hinterland were told in song and recitation by Tex Morten. Old songs found popular favour and modern requests were handled with life and gaiety or with feeling, as the song demanded. Sorue of the most pleasing items were vie duets in wh ch Sistei Dorrie combined to good effect. Besides being a competent performer Tex Morton has a pleasing personality and held the audience in his hand throughout. With more scope for the spectacular Van Loewe stole the show when he took over in the second half of the programme. Such was the enjoyment of the audience that, he was unable to satify their demands until approaching mif.nigh $ tV’.h ai> at 20 members of the audience on the stage, Van Loewe had no dearth of malleable subjects on which to display his powers. Some acts gave rise to wonderment, hut lor th? most part the audience was held in helpless hilarity. As entertainment with a common appeal the show must have satisfied the most discerning. Tex Morton, Sister Dorrie and Van Loewe will appear Lor one night only at the Regent Theatre ' Greymoutb next Tuesday. The box plan is now open at Harley’s.
