COMING EVENTS CAST SHADOW

NELSON, November 8. Information from a reliable source supplied to-day amply confirns the adage that “corning events cast their shadows” —which augurs well for the Labour Party on November 30. A bonfire and Guy Fawkes display organised by the- National Party and held at Mr W. Shand’s residence, Alawhai, which is the A'larlborough electorate, proved a very damp squib last Saturday evening. The bright lights of the National Party gathered at the due time to witness the briliant fireworks display which was to have reduced an effigy of the Prime Minister to ashes. Fate intervened, and the deluge which began at 9 o’clock effectively prevented the desecration, caused a rapid cessation of activities, and washed out the efforts of the juveniles.
