Death Penalty Question
WELLINGTON - , November 10.. When Rt. Hon. W. Nash spoke at a Hi/' 1 meeting last night, a questioner sought his views on capital punishment. Mr. Nash said the evidence of the past half-century was that capital punishment did not reduce the number of murders. Murders came in a greater degree after . the war. In Western Europ;- countries where capital punishment had been abolished the incidence of murders had not gone up, but tended to go down, said Mr. Nash. He would not say “yes” or “no” about his own attitude but he would favoui 1 reconsideration of the question of capital punishment.
